Video: For Pacific Island Survivors
The Survivor Experiences Service aims to support Pacific Island Survivors in healing (the vā) and allowing you to self-determine what restoring this balance looks like.
We understand through the Royal Commission’s work that Pacific Island Survivors felt disconnection from their culture and family, and multiple layers of violation while in care (or loss of the vā) being abused and neglected in care.
Wellbeing support
Sharing your experiences of abuse in care, or receiving your records, can be emotionally challenging.
We provide wellbeing support to help care for your oranga and reduce the impact of this kōrero while you engage with our service.
You may be able to receive:
- Up to 6 sessions of counselling, therapy, art therapy, or massage / mirimiri
- Other short‑term wellbeing support that is meaningful to you
Wellbeing Support is available when you share your story with us or receive your care records.
As we walk alongside you, there may be times when extra support is needed.
With your consent, we can help connect you with other services that support you, your whānau or aiga, and your wider wellbeing.
Talk with our kaimahi about what support may feel right for you. Support is offered with care, respect, and at your pace.
The Service is confidential, non-judgemental and you can remain anonymous if you wish.
